After years of a frenetic life in the IT business in a very loud and busy city in Italy, we started searching for a way to change that. We liked the idea of moving to the countryside and doing something completely different professionally. As France enthusiasts, we began looking for houses with enough land that we could cultivate.
We found our Norman longère with almost 4 hectares of land, a pond, and wonderful countryside in the fall of 2022 and were able to call it our own shortly thereafter. We made plans to turn this piece of paradise into a small farm with permaculture and old breeds of animals, and continued to develop these plans until we moved from Italy in 2025. We have been implementing these plans since February 2025 – both in practical terms and, above all, in terms of administration. French bureaucracy had and still has a few surprises in store for us.
